The Ontario Tennis Association (OTA) is the provincial sport governing body for tennis in Ontario. The OTA is the largest provincial tennis association in Canada, boasting 220 clubs and 55,000 adult and child tennis players. The two basic aims of the OTA are to encourage participation in the sport of tennis in Ontario and to provide a structure of services which will assist players to reach a level of competence consistent with their personal goals and abilities.
The OTA and Computan work together to ensure that the OTA’s mission to promote the game of tennis and provide a platform for tennis players in Ontario to succeed is realized and maintained. The promotion aspect of the relationship involves the development of a fully web-based database for the OTA to send electronic press releases, a content management system to post regular updates for OTA members and an event calendar indicating special occasions or one of the hundreds of tennis events occurring each year within the province. The platform aspect of the relationship involves providing the OTA with a tennis-event management system whereby they can create tennis draws and update them in real time in conjunction with their Computan-developed ranking system. Both areas are tightly integrated together to make the OTA one of the most technologically advanced sports organizations in all of North America.
