[ABOUT

Our breeding programs these days are confined mostly to the Abyssinian.

ABYSSINIANS

THE ABYSSINIAN breeding program began with the first Abyssinian Champion Millcreek's Athena of Tailsend (from the highly respected Anshent-Won and Amulet lines). Over the years, several additional lines (the superb Akhetaten, Abydos, Catsylvania, etc.) have been selectively combined and we have produced numerous Grand Champions. Satchel Our cattery is particularly proud of Grand Premier/Regional Winner Tailsend Synian, a stunning and stylish Red neuter who was 7th Best Cat in CFA's Great Lakes Region during the 1990-1991 show season.

In the fall of 1995 Karen and Roger had fun at a few shows with a very colorful and stylish young ruddy male, Tailsend Satchel (left). His mother is Champion Catsylvania's Brazen of Tailsend, a ruddy, and his father is Grand ChampionTailsend Carpet Bagger, a red. Satchel did really well at the 3 CFA shows he went to, culminating in highest scoring kitten at his last show at the age of 4 months and 29 days! He is now living in Finland with Tuula, Bjorn and Markus Collin who showed him at FIFe shows, where he took top awards in the Kitten and Adult categories, and in 1997 was named as a co-winner of the CAT OF THE YEAR AWARD in Finland. He's actually done so well - we've given him his own page so we can brag about him a lot!

Satch's breeding worked so well that we repeated it and in May of 1997 we sent a young ruddy male, Champion Tailsend Ruddy Buddy (right), to live with Joanna Beck in Denmark. He has superb color, wonderful clarity and the most laid back disposition! . This sweet cat worked his way right into Joanna's heart, and was a welcome outcross for her breeding program.

These days, we have a lovely outcross Aby female in our breeding program - a ruddy named CH Etochat's Ruby Tuesday of Tailsend. She will be bred, in the summer of 2003, to GC Tailsend Carpet Bagger, our red male. We have also recently leased a couple of females, one red and one ruddy. Breeding these girls will give a diversified "boost" to our breeding porgram.

ORIENTAL

Hiway Storm, an Ebony, is our only Oriental these days. Storm is one of the cats that was rescued from Erma Jenei's house shortly after Erma's tragic death on January 5, 1998 during the ice storm in eastern Ontario. Storm only needed one more kitten to Grand to achieve the title of "Distinguished Merit" (as did Storm's mother). She was bred to GC, RW Topol's Black Ice, another Ebony and one of her kittens - Tailsend Ice Storm - granded in Premiership! This bestows the title of DISTINGUISHED MERIT on both Highway Storm and her mother, Syl-Mar Egyptian Art of Hiway.

We are not breeding Orientals at this time.
