Every twist and turn in the road, and every viewpoint, give you a different look at the canyon - each one more beautiful than the last.
We hit the Grand Canyon on a day when the weather could definitely be termed a "mixed-bag" - it would change from glaring sunshine to extreme thunderstorms with hail in a flash. This photo was taken just after a rainstorm, when the canyon itself had instantly disappeared into a sea of fog and cloud. Wisps of fog hung around the edges of the canyon walls as the weather cleared and the canyon itself reappeared.
Of course, one of the major advantages of rain and then sunshine is a rainbow - and boy, did we see a lot of rainbows that day! None of them was a stunning as this one, however.
