Othello Tunnels, British Columbia

Othello Tunnels

Othello Tunnels, located near Hope, is a series of about 7 old railway tunnels that had been hard carved through the mountains during 1916-1917 by railway workers. The entrance to them has a lazy river running along side the road, and the tunnels themselves are cold and damp inside.

However, in between the tunnels one gets the most spectacular view of the now raging river as it squeezes through the narrow canyon, and the canyon walls.

Here's a photo taken near the end of the series of tunnels where the river is starting to calm down again after being forced through the narrow canyon.
