Butterfly Conservatory, Niagara Falls, Canada

There are times when some of the neatest things to do and see are right in your own area, as is the case of the brand new Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory located on the Niagara Parkway at the School of Horticultural - and it is truly awesome! A wonderful greenhouse building, reasonably humid - but with butterflies flying all around you. Throughout the conservatory there are many varieties of gorgeous tropical flowers, which are host plants for the butterflies. Here's just a few pictures I took there. Don't ask me to name species other than those shown, cuz I can't <g>

Butterflies feeding
Some species of butterflies apparently like to
feed on fruit, and there are numerous plates of fruit
in the conservatory with butterflies constantly lighting on them.
The large brown one is a Magnificent Owl from North, Central & South America.
The Brown colored butterfly shown left above
are absolutely stunning when they opened their wings and showed off
the blue color inside (hidden when they alight and close their wings).
Here's some more butterfly photos:

Blue Morpho from Central and South America
