The colors in these petrified logs was unbelievable. They were solid as rock, and had very vibrant coloration, often in rings as you can see here.
Some trees had fallen, stayed intact and petrified as whole trees. They now form a natural bridge across gulleys and dry creek beds in the area.
The kids throughly enjoyed exploring and picking up little pieces that had broken off.
Of course, they were made to empty their pockets before leaving the park!
