Meet Bilal! He is a Backend WordPress developer who helps marketers build WordPress themes.  He also enjoys coding in Laravel and Vue.JS. In this installment of Behind The Coding, Bilal talks to us about his interest in ERPs, why meeting his brothers regularly is a difficult dream, and his best advice for future parents.

Hi Bilal! How are you?

I am good, thanks, Sajeel, and you?

Good thanks! What are the last few things you Googled?

The first thing I Googled was about Elementor

Ok! Why were Googling about Elementor?

As a backend expert, I usually don’t play too much with the page builders.  But at Computan we use Elementor at a lot so I was just exploring things there.

What else did you Google?

I was researching ERPs.

Interesting! What would you be researching Enterprise Resource Planning systems for?

Have always been interested in big applications and systems.

They are really impressive!

Yeah exactly. Moodle is one of my favorites.

It is huge.

Yes absolutely.

When did you last work after hours to solve a hard problem?

The task was to create multiple webhooks for various eCommerce platforms like Magento. That was a big one.

Who are three people you'd like to have dinner (dawaat) with at the same time, and why

Urwa Osman.

Who is Urwa?

He’s my best friend. I have known him for about 10 years, and we went to University together.

That’s nice, Bilal! Who else would join, guys?

My two brothers, Zaid and Anas.

Don’t you guys eat together often?

Not often enough. Zaid is in the UK, and Anas is in Malaysia. We don’t get to eat together often enough.  Plus, we are all married and have families. Logistically it is tough to meet.

So what would you guys eat if you got together?

Honestly, the food itself isn’t essential. The meeting itself is!

Ok! That’s fair.  When was the last time you cried tears of laughter?

I cried tears of laughter and happiness when my son Usaid was born.

That’s definitely an emotional time.  When your friends ask you for parenting advice, what do you tell them?

Patience for sure.  As a parent, you need patience. Kids will make mistakes, and we need to teach and guide them as parents.

That is very true, Bilal. What do you love about coding?

I love backend work. I love backend WordPress work, Larvel, and Vue.JS; these are my loves of coding Sajeel.

Understood! When was the first time you saw a laptop/computer

I was 10 or 11, and I watched cartoons.

What cartoons did you watch?

I am not sure! I should probably know that, though, and I can’t believe I don’t!

It’s OK, Bilal. We can’t remember everything! What is something your teammates don't know about you?

They don’t know that I secretly don’t like the drag-and-drop tools in WordPress.

Really?? You don’t like them?

Let me clarify. I would like to build my own drag-and-drop tools, but not using prebuilt tools.

Why not?

I like to program a lot and make custom solutions for custom problems.
