Meet Uzair! He’s a front-end development expert at Computan who loves to build exciting things in HubSpot.  He’s also a family man and a spiritual person as well! In this episode of Behind The Coding, Uzair talks to us about his favourite professional wrestler, his hidden personality trait, and why picking a dinner outing in his family might be hard.

Hi Uzair! What are the last 3 things you Googled and why?

The first thing I Googled was about tracking codes

What kind of tracking code?

Well, I don’t remember which company’s tracking code.  I remember I was Googling to verify if a particular tracking code was firing or not.

Ok! What else have you been Googling?

Ways to reduce load times on web pages.

What methods specifically were you looking into?

Basically, at the code level.  Trying to find ways to make code run more efficiently and give the browser less code to think about!

It is always good to make things easier to load.

Yes, for sure!

What is the third thing you Googled?

Email templates in dark mode?

Can you explain to readers what dark mode is?

The dark mode is a setting people have on their devices to save battery.  It can also be a style people prefer. Instead of a white background on all apps, they use a black background.

Ok! What were you looking at doing with the email templates?

Sometimes images don’t load in dark mode properly.  So I was Googling around for different solutions developers have taken to ensure that doesn’t happen.

I got it! Who are 3 people you'd like to have a dinner with at the same time, and why?

I am lucky that I get my perfect dinner every weekend!

Wow! How do you do that?

Almost every weekend, my family and I go out for dinner.

That’s great! What do you guys eat?

That’s always a hard one.

Why is that?

Because we all have different tastes.

What does everyone like?

My son Rohan likes burgers, my wife likes pizza, and my father loves mutton karahi.

Then it can be hard to pick a place to eat, right?

Yes, sometimes it can be!

When did you last work after hours to solve a hard problem?

Last year I had to work on a Marketo task.

Oh boy

Yeah, and Marketo isn’t something I work on too often

Yes, you prefer HubSpot

I know.  I was working until 2-3 AM trying to figure things out.

That’s a long day

It certainly was!

When was the last time you cried tears of laughter?

That would be in 2021 when on our company trip.

Which part of the trip?

My teammates are hilarious.

Which ones?

Hassan Hashmi and Sajid Ali, for sure.  Their dancing on the bus and throughout the trip was strange and hilarious.  I got tears of laughter from their ‘skills.’

People mention that 2021 trip often.

It was memorable. It was a magical few days.

What do you love about coding?

HubL, HTML, JS, and CSS are my favorite things.  I like solving problems and doing interactive revenue calculators in JS.

Those are always valuable.

Yes! They really are.

When was the first time you saw a computer?

I was 9 or 10, probably at my uncle’s house.

What did you do?

I don’t remember exactly what I did the first time I saw a computer, but I know I used to watch a lot of wrestling on the computer.

Who is your favorite wrestler?

Rey Mysterio Jr.

He’s so fast and quick! Unbelievable for a guy of that size.

Yeah. He is my favorite by far.

What is something your teammates don't know about you?

They think I am a honest person.

Aren’t you?

Yes, I’d like to think I am…but I also want to joke around a lot too.

And not many know that?

Most think I am just a quiet, honest guy! But I like to play pranks.

We better watch out!
