Maisum is a Python developer who is a big fan of Spiderman. In this installment of Behind The Coding Maisum talks us to his about his 3 brothers, why he can’t remember what he’s Googled, and why he’d enjoy eating dinner by himself.
Hi Maisum! What are the last 3 things you Googled?
I was just checking before your call Sajeel and actually, I don’t remember.
You don’t remember? Why not?
I actually forgot.
You can check your browser history can’t you?
I can’t check the history because I use multiple browsers!
Ok, then let’s try and guess.
Well, the first thing was probably something for my friend and teammate Chinasa (Chinasa Agu). He was having an issue with Windows and Linux and setting something up. So I thought I would help him.
Ok! What else?
I would have put the Teams link for this call in the search bar. Does that count?
Sure, it can 😊.
Good. I can’t remember the third-most recent thing I Googled. Probably something related to work.
This call is unique already
Isn’t that a good thing?
Yes, I guess so. When was the last time you worked after hours to solve a hard problem?
I worked on a backend task a few months ago. I didn’t work late, but worked on the weekend.
How did you solve it
Hahaha…just a lot of trial and error again and again on my own time.
Who are 3 people you'd like to have dinner (Dawaat) with at the same time and why? Maisum?
3 people? How about me, myself and I?
Hahaha. I have never heard that one before. Why would you want to eat dinner by yourself?
Because there are only three seats and my immediate family has 6 members. I couldn’t pick only 3.
So if you had 6 seats you would choose your family?
Yes, I have 3 brothers Hamza, Mohtashim, and Shameer and my parents.
That’s nice Maisum! And what would you eat?
My brothers and I would eat fast food...burgers, pizza and things of that sort. I’d eat pasta.
What about your parents?
They would definitely go for traditional Pakistani cuisine – curries, rice and naan.
When was the last time you cried tears of laughter?
I can’t remember, but probably doing something with my brothers. We are always getting into trouble and causing mischief. We love teasing each other.
That’s nice! And what do you love about coding?
I love pressing the ‘run button’ when the code works error-free. It’s a magic feeling.
How could you describe it?
It’s unexplainable — just magic.
When was the first time you saw a laptop/computer
I don’t recall it too much.
Your memory is failing you today, Maisum!
Sorry, Sajeel! I remember it was a Pentium 2. My dad brought it home, and I was probably 4 or 5 years old.
What did you do on the computer?
I was 4 or 5, so I just watched cartoons. Winnie The Pooh, Toy Story.
The classics, of course.
What is something your teammates don't know about you?
If I tell you, then they’d know. Wouldn’t they?
Yes, I guess that’s how this works.
I get cologne as a gift a lot. Does that count? I have never had to buy a bottle of cologne for myself. People always give it to me as a gift.
You are a very lucky guy, Maisum!
I believe that for sure.
