Michael Stephen

Meet Michael! He’s a Marketing Analyst on the Computan team who specializes in Google Analytics, HubSpot, and overall marketing.  He’s also a great storyteller! In this installment of Behind The Coding, Michael talks about the part of marketing he’s trying to improve on, his special relationship with Windows 95, and lets us know about what is great at Computan.

Hi Michael! What are the last 3 things you Googled?

I Googled about tracking clicks with Google Optimize.

What is Google Optimize?

It’s a great tool for Conversion Rate Optimization. We can use it for split-testing and running all different types of A/B Tests.

Nice! What else have you been Googling?

I was researching story ideas for email marketing.

Why?

I am trying to add copywriting to my marketing skills.

Nice! What else were you Googling?

I was Googling about the network coverage for my new Internet Service Provider!

Hahaha! And When did you last work after hours to solve a hard problem?

Yesterday. I was working on a Google Analytics 4 setup for a client, and it wasn’t exactly how I wanted it to be.  So I ended up staying late to figure out why.

Nice Michael. Who are 3 people you'd like to have dinner with simultaneously, and why?

One would be Ben Seto.

The email copywriter? Why him?

I’d love to know how he develops topics and conversion-based copy.  He is a magician with words.

Ok! Who else?

Toyin Omotoso

Who is he?

He is a famous Nigerian marketer who has done a lot for Nigerian businesses.  He sells lots of products to the domestic Nigerian market. How he pulled that off would be very interesting to find out.

And who else, Michael?

Frank Kern

Another marketer!

Yeah. He would be great dinner company

So you would get a lot of professional development from your dinners.

For sure, I would use that time to learn something, Sajeel.

Well said, Michael.  When was the last time you cried tears of laughter?

Earlier this year! There was a funny and non-repeatable story from work that had me really crying with lots of laughter.

Are you sure it’s not repeatable? You even repeated your childhood story from the bus stop, Michael….

Yeah, this one isn’t repeatable!

Ok, ok, fair. What do you love about your job?

I love working at Computan.  There is a huge ability to learn here and an opportunity to work with people worldwide.  I can also see the help and value we, as a team, bring to marketers all the time. It’s really great.

I’m glad you feel that way, Michael! When was the first time you saw a laptop/computer?

It was way back, probably in 1996. I played a car racing game on Windows 95.

I didn’t know you were that old, Michael.

Yeah, it’s sad and true.

Hahaha! What is something your teammates don’t know about you?

That I have a beautiful family, including a four-year-old daughter.

Wow! I didn’t know that!

Yeah, my wife is a teacher too.

Nice to know that, Michael!
