In this installment of Behind The Coding, Touseef talks about his secret skills that most of his teammates don’t know about, his favorite food, and his confusion with a computer keyboard.
Hi Touseef! What are the last 3 things you Googled?
I Googled about the weather in Lahore. It has been raining a lot, a lot of floods and I was seeing when things might improve.
Yeah, it’s a difficult time of the year with monsoons in many parts of the world.
Definitely.
What else have you been Googling, Touseef?
I Googled an error message that my Internet connection was giving me.
Wouldn’t you need Internet access to get a response from Google?
Haha, yes, I suppose. I had Internet access, but it was going off and on.
And what else?
I was having a problem with an SVG not loading edge to edge. So, I Googled a little about how to resolve that.

When did you last work after hours to solve a hard problem?
It was last month on a new WordPress build our team is working on. It wasn’t difficult work, but it was a lot of work. I had to stay online even later than my standards to get it done.
And you like working at night a lot.
Yeah, that’s right. I do my best work at night.
Who are 3 people you'd like to have dinner with simultaneously, and why?
My parents and my fiancé.
What kind of food do your parents like?
They like Karahi and BBQ.
And what about your fiancé?
She loves Chinese food.
Those are two very different types of food!
Hahaha! Yeah, sometimes we will eat Chinese and sometimes Pakistani.
When are you getting married?
God willing, we are getting married in December of 2023.
A winter wedding! Sounds great.
Yeah, it should be.
When was the last time you cried tears of laughter?
I don’t remember if I was crying, but there was a comedic video about someone getting married four times and having four times the positive vibes and impact. It was pretty funny!
What do you love about coding, Touseef?
I love the challenging things and the problem-solving of coding. I also love improving processes or optimizing stuff with the tools I build. It always makes me feel good.

I was probably 14 or 15 years old.
What did you see?
I didn’t see anything! It's just the screensaver, hahaha.
Hahaha! What were your first impressions of the computer when you saw it?
The first thing I had was a question about the keyboard.
What was the question?
I thought, ‘Why isn’t the keyboard in alphabetical order!?’ I'm not sure why it was in the QWERTY format.
That is a great first question, though! What is something your teammates don't know about you?
That I know Laravel.
Really? Do you know Laravel well?
Yes - I know Laravel, but most of my tasks are in WordPress.
