Zubair Gohar Qureshi is a front-end HubSpot Developer who makes people feel welcome. He is social, fun-loving, and impossible to beat in arm wrestling. In today’s Behind The Coding, Zubair talks about his multiple identities, what he researches online, and which colleagues he spends a lot of time with.
Mr. Zubair Gohar Qureshi. What are the last 3 things you Googled?
Hi, Sajeel Qureshi. The last thing I Googled was my electricity bill – I needed to login and pay that.
Ok, what else did you Google?
I have a lot of different searches related to English Premier League football.
Are you a fan?
Yes, of course! It’s pre-season, and I am looking at all the scores and which players are switching teams.
What else are you Googling?
Hahaha…my history has 3 YouTube searches for Punjabi movies.
Are you a fan of Punjabi movies?
Yeah, I like them a lot. In my view, they are funnier than English, Hindi, and Urdu movies.
When was the last time you worked after hours to solve a hard problem Zubair?
There was an urgent task for one of our agency clients. I stayed up until around 2 AM, handling that task. It was about two months ago.
Who are 3 people you'd like to have dinner with simultaneously, and why Zubair?
I have several colleagues and former colleagues I am lucky to call friends. I would have dinner with them.
Which colleagues?
Zeeshan Ahmad (HubSpot Integrations Team Lead), Sohail Khan (former WordPress Team Lead), and Shaban Sarfraz (former HubSpot Integrations Team Lead).
That would be a lot of fun! What is your connection with each of them like?
Zeeshan, Sohail, and I have worked together in other companies before. Sohail and Zeeshan are a little older than me, so they often like to tease and make fun of me. Shaban is my neighbor, and we see each other quite often.
And what would you guys eat?
We would eat Shinwari lamb. It is our favorite!
Nice! When was the last time you cried tears of laughter?
Last week, Sajid Ali (HubSpot front-end development project team lead) told a story about his business of buying and selling animals. He told it in English and then in Punjabi. Both were hilarious! Especially the Punjabi version.
He is a big storyteller.
Yes, he is.
What do you love about coding?
I like learning new things; there is always something new to learn in coding. The sky is the limit!
Agreed Zubair! When was the first time you saw a laptop/computer?
It was probably in 2003 or 2004. It was a Windows Vista machine belonging to my older brother.
You are making me feel old, Zubair! That’s not an old machine, in my view.
Hahaha! Sorry Sajeel.
What is something your teammates don't know about you?
I have one personality and style at work and another at home.
What do you mean?
I mean, inside the office, maybe I’m a little quieter and a little more focused. Outside the office, I am a lot more social/
