Meet Waqas!  He is a mobile app developer on the Computan team.  He is an expert at React Native and knows his way around PHP and Laravel.  Plus, he’s a great guy to know! In this installment of Behind The Coding, Waqas talks about Elementor, stomach pain, and his secret inventory.

Hi Waqas! What are the last three things you Googled and why?

Hi Sajeel.  The first thing I Googled was how to use Elementor.

Interesting.  Why would a mobile app developer and backend developer like yourself be looking into Elementor?

That’s a great question! One of the other teams at Computan needs help with some WordPress work.  So, I am jumping in and learning about Elementor and what I can do to help.

What do you think about it?

I like it.  It is very easy, and its components are pretty simple.

What else?

Ant-Man 3

Were you looking to watch it?

Yeah! Either in the theater if still there or on streaming.

Are you a fan of the Marvel movies?

Of course! I like them a lot.

What else?

Android TV boxes

Did you find one you liked?

For sure! I bought a Xiaomi one.  It works really well, and I am happy with it.

Great! Who are 3 people you'd like to have dinner with at the same time, and why?

That’s a good question.  One would be Muhammad Ali Mirza

Who is Muhammad Ali Mirza?

He’s a scholar and a lecturer.  He has interesting points of view, and it would be good to sit with him to understand him better.

Ok. Who else?

My friend Waseem.

What can you tell me about Waseem?

He’s a college friend of mine! It’s been a long time since we have talked.  But when we do talk it’s always as if we just talked yesterday.

Ok, who else?

You!

What? Why me!?

I have never met a nicer and more approachable company head than you Sajeel.  Would be great to eat with you, Waseem and Muhammad Ali and Mirza.

I’m flattered.  What would we eat?

We could eat anything, but we would have to be in an open space.

Why an open space?

Because we’d need to feel the environment, no rush, no stress or urgency to leave like at most restaurants.  We should be hanging out for several hours!

Sounds like it would be an amazing time Waqas!

It definitely would be.

When was the last time you cried tears of laughter?

Recently my cousin got married, and all of us got together. I was laughing so hard.

What were you guys joking about?

Old stories, new stories.  I had a huge stomach-ache.

Why?

I didn’t just have tears of laughter, but my stomach was so sore from laughing!

Hahaha Waqas. What do you love about Coding?

I see a lot of coding in life. In coding, everything can be explained by logic.

Do you see the logic in life? Really?

Absolutely.  Behind every emotion, there is logic.  Someone is happy for a reason; someone is upset for a reason.  Everything can be explained by a cause and an effect.  Coding is like life to me!

That’s an interesting interpretation! When is the first time you saw a computer?

I was at my cousin’s house.  He had a Pentium 2 and was playing a motorcycle game.  He had one of those old monitors that when you stare at them too long it hurts your eyes.  Do you remember those?

Yes, of course!

Yeah, he had one of those.  Two years or so later, my dad bought us a computer for our own house.  I still bought that same motorcycle game.

What is something your teammates don't know about you?

On the topic of games, I still love to play games, and I’m a big gamer.

I didn’t know that! What games do you play?

Call of Duty, Need For Speed.  Any PC game you can think of.

How big a gamer are you?

I am a full-stack gamer! I spend my recreational money on my gaming PCs.

PCs? Multiple?

Oh yes.  I have multiple gaming PCs, and I use them just for gaming.  I have several gaming PCs

That is quite the inventory!

Yes, it is.  Some of us eat out, buy a fancy phone or have fancy clothes.  Not me.  I prefer gaming!
