Have a business? Want to have more traffic on your posts? Follow these simple tips.  It's not how much you post...but really how and what you post. Here's how to improve your content:

  1. Add value: For brands to be successful on social media, they need to offer value to their audience. In other words, no one is going to pay attention to you on social media if you do nothing but promote yourself. You should be an ongoing source of timely and relevant information in your area of expertise.  Doesn't matter if you had the idea or not.
  1. Share content: Don’t struggle to constantly come up with new content for your social media updates. It’s okay to repost and reshare your best blog content.  It’s completely acceptable to repost content you’ve already shared.  Remember, the shelf-life of a Tweet, for example, is about 20 minutes. Share often and frequently.
  1. Increase post word count:  Posts with 80+ words have more engagement. While this by no means implies every post published should be an encyclopedia, it does make it clear that updates require certain context.
  1. Try different punctuation: Various punctuation on Facebook garner different results. Each punctuation type is worth testing to see what works best with your particular audience.  For example posts with hashtags (#) see 60% more interactions on average. Posts with exclamation points (!) see 2.7% more interactions on average.  Posts that questions and include question marks garner 23% more engagement on average.
  1. Publish after work hours: Posts published after hours (5 PM - 1 AM), see 11% more interactions than those published during the day (8 AM. - 5 PM). They also see 29% more interactions than those published before work (1 AM - 8 AM).
  1. Publish on weekends: Posts published on Sundays get 25% more likes, shares, and comments than posts on Wednesday.

In conclusion, Social media marketing is not about selling and posting random content. Brands need to engage with their fans and followers in a number of different ways. Building relationships is difficult.  Use post and images that create a sense of camaraderie with users, and also construct engaging posts that make a relationship between your brand and your audience.
